Waterproofing your Basement

Coming home to a flooded basement is not only a hassle, but you could also lose precious items during a flooding. Unfortunately for homeowners, there are many reasons as to why or how water gets in your basement. The most common culprits are usually leaking pipes, poor grading around your foundation, seepage from window wells, cracks in your masonry or inadequate sump pumps.

By waterproofing your basement, you will not only increase the value of your home, but you will also improve your living experience and prevent damage from occurring. There are a few different ways you can waterproof your basement.
  • Interior Waterproofing – An interior drain tile system is an innovative device that is used for interior waterproofing. It lowers the water table far below the basement floor and is designed to gather and redirect water away from your home.
  • Exterior Waterproofing – This type of waterproofing captures the water before it even enters your home. The drain tile is located on the outside of your foundation and acts like a pipe to help collect and redirect subsurface water as it moves down from the soil.
  • New Construction Waterproofing –When building a new home, consider using both interior and exterior drain tile systems. The last thing you want is for an area to be overlooked and your brand new home getting flooded.
  • Crack Injection – If you want a permanent, affordable solution to plugging up cracks in your foundation that can cause water leaks, then crack injection is for you. Common products used to seal the cracks are injection epoxies, polyurethane foams and grouts.
  • Yard and Downspout Drains – A down spout drain is one of the single most important rainwater drainage systems. The whole idea of this approach is to keep the water away from your home to avoid a water problem in the first place.
