Whether you are trying to sell your home or impress your family and friends during the holidays, keeping your exterior looking nice is a must. Although you might now be able to show off a lush garden or perfectly green lawn, there are certain things you can do in the Fall and Winter that will help create the curb appeal that you want.
Tips
- The Lawn – Keep the lawn looking great by raking up any leaves and removing any garbage that gets accidentally blown in your yard.
- The Landscaping – There is no sense in keeping around dead plants that won’t grow back, so make sure you pull those out when the cold starts to hit. You could plant a few winter flowers to take their place like honeysuckle, snowberry, winter jasmine and lambs ear. Keep bushes and trees manicured and cut back.
- Put Everything Away – To give your home that clean, streamlined look, make sure to put everything away—rakes, garbage bags, garden hose, etc.
- Add a Splash of Color – Color is a nice change during the cold winter months. A colorful wreath or a mailbox accent will make your home stand out. Colorful poinsettias and holly bushes are also a nice touch to a wintry exterior.
- Safety Tips –Because it gets darker earlier in the winter, good lighting is important. Replace any burned-out bulbs and make sure any sidewalks or walking paths are clear. Hanging walkway lights are a really beautiful touch.
Improving your curb appeal in the winter isn’t expensive, but it does take careful planning, a little creativity and a few hours of hard work!
