Things to consider when building

One of the largest expenditures most Georgians make is that of a home purchase. With such a large capital outlay, you want to make sure you get what you want. With that in mind, here are a few things to consider when building your next home:

• Budget accordingly - Make sure you don't get in over your head and don't try to bite off more of a purchase price that you can truly afford
• Buy according to your needs, not your wants - Take stock of what your family situation is and buy accordingly. If you have a need for 3 bedrooms, why search for 6 bedroom homes?
• Schools - If you have children, you want to make sure you're building in the best possible school district. If you don't have children, keep in mind that homes in good school districts attract people should you consider selling the home in the future
• Don't forget the insurance - Check with your local insurance agent to determine what kinds and types of insurance are right for your new home. Be sure to consider property, flood, fire, theft and water insurance
