Moving to your new home

Many people get very caught up in the process of building their new home and forget about the need to actually move into that home. Whitmire Homes has been in the business of building custom homes since 1978, and we understand all the demands placed on home owners before, during and after the build. Very financing, to moving, to landscaping, to securing the new home, we have experience with every aspect of owning a new home.

A successful move is one that is well organized and properly executed. When choosing a moving company, it is our advice that you choose one that has an impeccable record for safety, performance and accuracy. Even though we are a custom luxury home builder we have seen a thing or two in our day that can help you move into your new home without hassle:

• Tell your moving company about your "special" valuables. Consider moving them yourself.
 
• Moving costs may be determined by weight, distance or total time on the job site. Ask the moving company how they price their jobs.
 
• Be sure to determine who will pack the goods inside your home: you or the moving company.
 
• Consider where you will obtain the boxes necessary for packing. Many moving companies provide boxes for an additional fee.
 
• Label all the boxes before you pack them. This way, when you get to your new home, they will be easily identifiable.
 
• Review delivered items for damage before the moving company leaves.
 

Remember to relax and actually enjoy the new home. Moving can be very stressful if not properly planned and thought out.
